Get ready for a night out on the water you won't forget! Our 5-hour evening Snapper trip puts you right where the action is when these fish are most active. As the sun sets over Jensen Beach, we'll head out to prime fishing spots where Snappers are known to hang out after dark. This trip is perfect if you want to dodge the daytime heat and try your hand at some seriously good fishing. Whether you're a seasoned angler or just getting your feet wet, our crew will make sure you're in on all the action.
Once we leave the dock, you'll feel the difference right away. The water's calmer, the air's cooler, and there's a sense of adventure as we cruise under the stars. We'll hit up some killer spots – reefs and structures where Snappers love to hide out. Our team knows these waters like the back of their hand, so we'll put you right on top of the fish. You'll be using light tackle, feeling for that telltale tug that means dinner's on the line. And let me tell you, there's nothing quite like reeling in a big Snapper under the moonlight!
If you've never fished at night before, don't sweat it. We've got all the gear you need, and we'll show you the ropes. We usually start with some bottom fishing, using live bait or cut bait to entice those Snappers. You might be surprised how much action there is after dark – these fish don't sleep! We'll teach you how to feel for bites and set the hook just right. And don't worry about seeing in the dark; our boat's equipped with lights that'll help you handle your catch without any fumbling. Just remember to bring a light jacket – it can get a bit chilly out on the water at night.
Folks keep coming back for our night trips because it's a whole different ballgame. The peacefulness of being out on the water after sunset, the excitement of not knowing what's down there until you feel that first bite – it's addictive. Plus, Snappers tend to feed more aggressively at night, which means more chances for you to land a big one. It's also a great time for families or groups of friends to bond. There's something about sharing stories and laughs under the stars that brings people together. And let's be honest, bragging rights for who caught the biggest fish of the night are always on the table!
On our night trips, we're mainly after two types of Snapper: Mutton and Grey (also known as Mangrove Snapper). Mutton Snappers are the big boys – they can grow up to 30 pounds, though most of what we catch are in the 5-15 pound range. They're fighters, so when you hook one, get ready for a workout! Muttons have a pinkish-red color and are known for their delicious, slightly sweet meat. They're most active during the warmer months, from late spring through fall.
Grey Snappers, or Mangroves, are smaller but no less fun to catch. These guys usually weigh in between 1-5 pounds, but what they lack in size they make up for in numbers. You can catch them year-round, but they really start biting when the water warms up in spring. They're crafty little devils, often hanging around structure and reefs. Grey Snappers have a more subtle flavor compared to Muttons, but they're still a favorite for the dinner table.
Both species are known for their sharp teeth and strong jaws, so we use sturdy leaders to make sure they don't bite through the line. When you're reeling one in, keep a steady pressure – these fish are known for making quick runs and trying to wrap you around structure. Half the fun is outsmarting them!
If you're looking for a fishing trip that's a bit different from the usual daytime fare, our night Snapper fishing is where it's at. It's a chance to experience Jensen Beach's waters in a whole new light (or lack thereof!). You'll come away with some great fish stories, maybe a cooler full of Snapper, and definitely some memories that'll have you itching to come back for more. Just remember, spots fill up fast, especially during peak seasons. So if you're ready to try your luck under the stars, give us a call and let's get you booked. Trust me, once you've felt the thrill of battling a big Snapper in the moonlight, you'll be hooked for life!
Grey snappers, also called mangrove snappers, are a nighttime favorite here in Jensen Beach. These opportunistic hunters typically run 10-14 inches and 1-2 pounds inshore, but can bulk up to 20 pounds in open water. Look for them around structures like docks, piers, and mangrove roots – they love ambush spots. Grey snappers have a greyish-red color that can shift to bright red, with a dark stripe across the eye. They're most active at night, making them perfect for our evening trips. Anglers enjoy targeting them for their soft, flaky white meat and the challenge they present. For best results, use live bait like shrimp or mud minnows. Here's a local tip: hook your shrimp through the tail to keep it lively longer. Let your bait sink to the bottom near structure, then reel up slightly. Be patient – these fish wait for the right moment to strike.

Mutton snappers are a prized catch around Jensen Beach, known for their olive coloration and distinctive blue lines near the eyes. These fish can grow up to 37 inches, though most are around 20 inches. You'll find them hanging out near reefs and structures, usually in depths of 130 to 230 feet. Muttons are solitary creatures, so spotting one often means there's a small group nearby. They're active day and night, feasting on everything from small fish to octopus. Anglers love targeting muttons for their strong fight and excellent table fare. When fishing for them, use fresh bait and a light sinker. A local trick is to let your bait drift in the chum slick – muttons can't resist! Keep an eye out for that telltale pink flash as you're reeling one in. It's a sure sign you've hooked a quality mutton snapper.
